Model Railroad Clubs in the Bayou Division 2 include:
The Crescent City Model Railroad Club is a quick 80-minute drive down I-10 to Metairie, LA. The club sustained substantial hurricane damage two years ago and only recently has the railroad back to operation, but some work remains to be done. Hopefully that will be done by June 2025. They are eager to be a part of the convention.
The Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroad Club is 55 minutes north of Baton Rouge in Jackson, LA. This is a very large facility with G gauge outdoor layouts in live steam and electric power. Inside one building are layouts in Standard, Gauge 1, and O gauge 3-rail, S gauge, N scale and even Z. In another building is a large HO scale layout and another O gauge 3-rail layout. There is a large playground train for the children. There is an old depot and a narrow gauge train on the property.
Potential operations layouts include:
Art Houston’s excellent Grande Pacific railroad is a possible operations layout. The layout is club size and operations oriented located in Houma, LA (Cajun country) about an hour and a half from the convention, but well worth the drive.
Mike Waldorf’s L&N layout is another possible operations layout in Mandeville, LA, 60-minutes east on I-12 from the convention.
Plans are in place for Division 4 to bring a modular layout to Baton Rouge, providing the opportunity for operating sessions at the convention site.
Division 2 will have the regular clinics, layout visits, operating sessions, and multiple points of interest to experience and enjoy at the Blues Express.
