Harold Berenzweig's Front Range and Santa Fe is a HO scale proto-freelanced railroad. It is set in the 1995-2005 time frame, shortly after the merger of the BN and ATSF so that many of the engines and cars sport the old markings. It represents a fictitious secondary route paralleling the Joint Line in Colorado. The layout is a multilevel around the wall in a 14x16 room. It is designed for solo or just a few operators as it has narrow aisles. There are three hidden and one visible staging yards. The track configuration is essentially loop to loop but there is a continuous connection that allows for open car load/empty running as well as enhancing staging options. The upper deck scenery is foam to reduce weight while the lower deck is essentially flat. The levels are connected by a helix which also has a track that connects the upper level with lowest level staging. Car movement is with JMRI. Control is with EASY DCC and most locomotives have sound.
